Accessibility.
Last updated: 25 September 2026
AskDimitri should work for everyone who wants to use it, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, voice control, or a zoomed-in screen. The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, for the public pages and the members' dashboard.
What we have done
- Every form field has a visible label, and errors are shown in words next to the field they belong to, not only by colour.
- Status messages, such as "check your inbox", are announced to screen readers, and forms keep what you typed when something goes wrong.
- The public pages can be used with a keyboard alone, keyboard focus is always visible, and each page has a "skip to content" link.
- Text and form borders meet the WCAG contrast minimums. Text inputs use a 16px font so phones do not zoom in unexpectedly.
- Animations stop if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Sign-in needs no password and no puzzle: a one-click email link or a 6-digit code you can type or paste.
Known gaps
- We have not yet had the site or the dashboard tested by an independent auditor or by screen reader users, so there will be problems we have not found.
- Dimitri's Letters are HTML emails. Their layout has not been checked as carefully as the website.
- Some library files are PDFs, which may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask and we will send you an accessible version.
Report a barrier
If something on AskDimitri is hard or impossible for you to use, write to dimitri@askdimitri.net. Say which page, what you were trying to do, and what device or assistive technology you use, if you are happy to share it. A person reads every message and will reply, and will help you by another route in the meantime if you need it.
